Mariquita Peak is on private land
Mariquita Peak is not on public land. It lies next to the Cielo Vista Ranch and may be part of the Trinchera Blanca Ranch. We don't know whether the owners allow climbing, so we don't describe a route.
Mariquita Peak is on the central Sangre crest, just south of Mount Maxwell, whose summit marks the edge of the San Isabel National Forest.
From Maxwell, the ridge south is Class 2 over moderately rocky ground, but everything south of Maxwell is private. Ask the landowners before going.
Mount Maxwell itself, on the forest boundary, is an easy climb by its east ridge from Forest Road 437.
