Basecamp
Community Rules
Basecamp is for climbers helping climbers get up and back down safely. The summit is optional. Coming home isn’t. These rules keep it useful and kind.
Be honest about conditions
Report what you actually saw: the road, the trail, the snow and the weather, with the date you were there. If you turned back, say so. Turning back is good information, not a failure.
Only post your own words and photos
Write your report yourself. Don’t paste text from other websites or guidebooks. Only upload photos you took, and don’t post photos of other people without their OK.
Keep it safe
Don’t encourage anyone to push past their limits, ignore closures, trespass on private land or skip the basics. Mark hazards clearly. Never share exact locations of sensitive wildlife or archaeological sites.
Be decent
No insults, harassment, hate, threats or spam. No ads or selling. Disagree about routes, not about people.
Every post is checked
Reports and photos are read by a person before they go live, usually within a day. We may decline, edit out, or remove anything that breaks these rules, and we may close accounts that keep breaking them. If you see a problem, use Report this on the post.
Conditions change
A report is one person’s day. Snow, weather and roads change fast. Use reports to plan, then make your own decisions on the mountain.
